We helped Dove House Hospice say goodbye to speed limitations and installed a service that allows them to share gigabit speeds across multiple sites whilst reducing costs.
Dove House Hospice is a local Hull charity who support patients and families who are facing a life-limiting illness. They have over 250 employees over 39 retail units in Hull and East Yorkshire. They also have a distribution centre based at Malmo Road which has been open for around 10 years.
They’ve always had to have different internet connections at their hospice on Chamberlain Road and their distribution centre which caused speed limitations in what they could pass over.
We installed the Pure Gig active service into their hospice which they share across the two sites to give the distribution centre connectivity too. They can access up to Gigabit speeds at both sites but they’re only paying for one site and they’ve increased their speeds by over 100x and they’ve saved £1,000s from not needing another connection at the separate site.
Another service Dove House Hospice have taken up is Dark Fibre. It allows them to do their offsite backups and data recovery whilst improving connectivity across the organisation. It’s saved them having to buy a replacement server, and it’s allowed them to move their disaster recovery to the warehouse.
The savings on IT benefit their patients and with over £7m in yearly hospice running fees anything they can do to cut these costs makes a huge difference. By having a faster internet connection, they’re able to do more digital marketing to get volunteers on board. They currently have over 1,200 volunteers which save the charity more than £1.3m each year.
